Our executive director Sandi Siegel has been deeply involved as a model in the Denver fashion scene for many years which lead to attending the 2021 SWAIA fashion shows and Indian Market in Santa Fe, a place always dear to her soul. ( In August 2024 she is honored to be walking for the SWAIA gala and fashion show!) This immersion of arts, fashion, music, dance and culture was profoundly moving. This combined with spending over 2 decades on sacred land in the Sonoran desert where she was honored to attend and learn about many indigenous ceremonies mostly near Pueblo Yaqui, lead to a continuing love and exploration of first peoples culture. Last winter Estes Park put on the inaugural First Peoples Festival which she attended with her family. The idea to add a fashion show to this event followed naturally and with great support and help from the festival committee and town, the First Peoples Fashion Show was made manifest! This January 18th we will celebrate indigenous fashion with this exciting and growing community of creatives! The runway show will be held at the Estes Park Hoiliday Inn with an opening reception, 5 indigenous designers, booths with designs and jewelry and much more. We look forward to gathering with you in the heart of the Rocky Mountains!
